Sinaia Peles 2011

I have a soft spot for a place called Sinaia, which is a resort in  the Prahova Valley, Bucegi Mountains, not far from Bucharest (around 75 miles). If you visit Romania you can get the train from Bucharest and stop there for one day or even more, if the weather is good. You will enjoy seeing Sinaia Monastery, Peles Castle, having a nice walk through the gardens and going for a mountain trip; alternatively you can relax with a coffe on the Economat terrace and visit George Enescu Museum (the summer residence of the great Romanian composer).

Dinner is always delicious at the The Hunters Restaurant (Restaurant Vanatoresc) near the Castle. Sometimes they hire gipsy singers (lautari) for entertainment and this is why we love to go there! Another place recommended for a great dining experience is The Serbian’s Den (Taverna Sarbului).
